Emotion-Focused Therapy for Individuals: How Can It Help Me?
When we have strategies to understand our emotions, thoughts, and behaviours we are able to make sense of our experience. Do you find yourself struggling to make sense of your inner world? Do you find yourself in relationship patterns that leave you feeling stuck and frustrated?
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) is a therapy model that focuses on identifying, understanding, and expressing our emotions. It is helpful to remember that emotions have a purpose in providing us signals to understand what we need in life. EFT is based on the belief that when we are able to change our relationship with emotions - we can alleviate our own distress and build healthier relationships with ourselves and with others.
How EFT Works:
Learn to label and understand emotions
Understand the purpose of my emotions & my needs
Learn to communicate my experience
Build strategies to be in my emotions
Identify, understand, and begin to shift relationship patterns
