The first appointment is focused on clarifying your hopes for therapy, collecting a brief history, and providing a safe space to explore your concerns. The therapist’s role is to help you explore what would be helpful for your specific situation: Including building awareness, skills, and finding solutions.

It can be helpful to know this question is so common! Couples Counselling is helpful when you are experiencing challenges with communication, navigating conflict, emotional disconnection, or experiencing a life transition. Couples counselling also supports couples navigating the impact of past infidelity and can provide a safe space to navigate their next steps. Often individuals believe couples counselling is only for couples in crisis, but it is beneficial to any couple looking to strengthen their relationship.

Majority of insurance companies cover counselling. But it can be helpful to verify with your insurance company the specifics of what they cover including credentials of the provider and coverage annually. I practice as a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and will provide receipts. Please note, I do not direct bill insurance companies.
